Proofademic now includes a built-in plagiarism checker alongside its AI detector. Both tools run in the same workspace inside the Proofademic dashboard.
Until recently, educators came to Proofademic for AI detection: catching AI-written essays, getting per-sentence confidence scores, running scans in 23 languages. Plagiarism detection was the most common feature request. It is now live.
What the plagiarism checker does
The plagiarism checker is in your Proofademic dashboard as a new “Plagiarism” tab in the left sidebar, alongside the existing “Detect AI” tab.
Paste a document. Click Check Plagiarism. The report shows:
- Overall match percentage: what proportion of your text matches external sources
- Unique content score: the inverse of the match percentage
- High Risk % and Low Risk % breakdown: which matches need a closer look and which are minor overlap
- Sources checked: the number of sources the scan ran against
- Matched words: exact count of words that match external sources
- Sentences analyzed: count of sentences in the scan
- Full source list: every source the engine found, with snippets
Save the report as a PDF and share it with a student, a department head, or an integrity board. Use Edit and Rescan to refine the text and run another check from the same screen.

Plagiarism + AI detection, in one platform
The plagiarism checker runs as a separate scan from the AI detector, but both tools live in the same workspace. You can scan a student paper for AI-written content with the AI detector, then run the same paper through the plagiarism checker, all without leaving Proofademic.
For grading workflows, this matters. A student’s essay can score zero on plagiarism and still come back high on AI detection. It can score zero on AI detection and still come back high on plagiarism. Both checks tell you something different. You need both to make a confident grading call.
Proofademic now runs both, in the same workspace, with one login, on the same paper.
Who it is for
The plagiarism checker is built for the same audience Proofademic has always served:
- Teachers and professors grading essays without juggling separate tools. Run AI detection first, then plagiarism, then move on to the next paper.
- Students self-checking their own work before submission.
- Institutions evaluating their academic integrity stack. Proofademic now covers both AI detection and plagiarism in one platform.
- Publishers and journals screening submissions before peer review. Catch duplicate publication, uncited reuse, and AI-generated submissions in the same workspace.
How accurate is it?
The plagiarism checker compares your text against billions of online sources and academic databases. Every scan reports the exact number of sources checked, the exact matched word count, and the full source list. Accuracy is verifiable at the sentence level rather than hidden inside a single black-box score.
For academic plagiarism use cases (from K-12 through graduate programs, from individual educators to institutional deployments), Proofademic delivers the accuracy and transparency that academic grading decisions require. Paired with the AI detector, it covers both copied content and AI-generated content in a single workflow.
